School throwing fair for families

The public is invited to attend Keaau Elementary School’s “Family Fun Fair 2012” from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on March 10, at the school.

This PTSA-sponsored event is a collaborative effort between staff and volunteers to encourage school/family involvement.

The day will be filled with fun kid activities, including games, face painting, balloons, Keiki IDs, a Fire Engine Static Display and much more.

There will also be food, crafts and entertainment, including the Puna Taiko Drummers, Keaau High School’s Polynesian Club, the Keaau Elementary School Chorus and a special guest appearance by Marty Dread and friends.

This event is for the whole family.


Meditation class offered in Hilo

Residents are invited to a free meditation class to be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on March 7 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo in Campus Center room 301.

This meditation class is for busy people living in contemporary life. Learn how to practice the basics of meditation, and through repeated practices overcome anger, stress, burnout, depression and all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. All are welcome to attend, and no experience is necessary.

Cancer retreat at Kokolulu Farm

Kokolulu Farm and Cancer Retreats in Hawi is offering a group cancer retreat of Hope & Empowerment, March 11-16. There is no charge for Big Island residents.
